How are AANPCB and AANP associated with each other?

  • Updated

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) was established by AANP in 1993 to provide nurse practitioner certification. In 1997, AANPCP was incorporated as a separate entity, independent from AANP. Two decades later, in 2017, the organization updated its name to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), reflecting its role as a certifying body.

Today, AANP and AANPCB remain distinct organizations. AANP advances the nurse practitioner role through advocacy, education, and professional development, while AANPCB independently oversees the certification and credentialing of nurse practitioners.

As an AANP member, you receive a $75 discount on certification or recertification through AANPCB.
